Critics' Choice
Quit Victoria is calling for primary and secondary schools across the state to get involved in Quit's Critics' Choice and vote for the television advertisement they think is the best one to encourage kids not to smoke.
2006 is the 6th year Quit Victoria will produce Critics' Choice. The curriculum resource is based on the activity of the same name that began in British Columbia, Canada in 1998. The activity encourages upper-primary and secondary students to watch, critique and discuss anti-smoking television advertisements from all over the world. This year's advertisements come from Canada, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia.
Students are asked to grade each ad and to pick an overall winner. Teachers are encouraged to collate results and return grading sheets back to Quit. The advertisement that receives the highest approval from young critics will be announced in October 2006.
