I smoked for well over 40 years and tried to give it up about 100 times for about 2 or 3 days and suffering withdrawal symptoms. I just thought, "Just this one, then l'll get serious," but of course those intentions that never happened.
Until one day I thought "This is not going anywhere," and instead of giving into temptation, I thought "If I light another ciggie, I'm back to where I was before and suffered withdrawals for for a week for nothing." So I decided to tackle another week and another after that, then I had 2 weeks to lose if I started up again. Then 3, 4, 5 weeks and after I forgot exactly how long and I lost my cravings.
Also I kept thinking about the business side, the people that take your money and swap it for lung desease. Anyhow now I actually hate the smell of cigarette smoke. Only one regret... I should have stopped earlier.
