The Cancer Council Victoria has released data on the level of deaths
caused by smoking in every Local Government Area, Primary Care Partnership
Catchment and Department of Human Services Region across the state.
The data was prepared by The Cancer Council Victoria's Cancer Epidemiology
Centre.
The data shows that deaths caused by smoking are the leading cause
of preventable death in Victoria. In every area of the State, deaths
caused by smoking outstrip other avoidable deaths caused by alcohol,
other drugs and road deaths, even when combined.
You can use the data on this site to promote tobacco control as
a priority health issue and to support tobacco control plans.
