Health organisations commend action on tobacco advertising by Andrews Government
Cancer Council Victoria, the Heart Foundation, Quit Victoria and VicHealth welcome the Victorian Government’s action today to close a loophole in legislation that allowed a multinational tobacco company to promote themselves and market new tobacco products at the Grand Prix.
Victoria has been at the forefront of tobacco control for decades in large part due to strong bipartisanship and leadership in public health. It is reassuring that this shared commitment to protect Victorians from the sneaky marketing tactics of tobacco companies remains strong.
The Health Legislation and Amendment Repeal Bill 2019 (Vic) was introduced to Parliament on 28 August 2019. The Bill contains amendments to the Tobacco Act 1987 (Vic).
