Vaping Resource Toolkit
With input from Common Cause Australia, Quit has developed a toolkit of evidence-based vaping resources for people working in public health, health promotion, community health, community development, health and social support and other settings (such as universities and sports clubs).
How can the toolkit help me?
The toolkit contains evidence-based tools and resources to support people working to reduce vaping and smoking in their communities, as well as those advocating for further vaping regulation.
The resources enable you to:
present to and educate colleagues and community members about vaping
discuss vaping and vaping products, incidence and health harms
raise awareness of new Australian legislation and Victorian arrangements
learn from behavioural insights
use effective prevention messaging tips
access Quit vaping cessation support tools
What is in the Vaping Resource Toolkit?
The resources are designed to be complementary. Select the resources most suitable to your work and download them from the toolkit. The toolkit includes:
Vaping Messaging Guide - This guide draws on new and previous Common Cause research on framing vapes and vaping messages. It focuses on values-based messaging for adults over 18 years and includes detailed insights into effective messaging directed at young people aged 18-24 years, those who vape regularly, and people who smoke.
Vaping Messaging Snapshot - A quick reference guide to key messages and approaches from the Vaping Messaging Guide.
PowerPoint slide decks with detailed speaker notes - The slide decks are designed to enable you to deliver a vaping presentation in the settings where you work and to build the capacity of your organisation, those that you partner with and those that you work to support. The slides provide an outline on the latest evidence and understanding about vaping products, use and legislation in Victoria and Australia. (Please note the presentations are not intended for delivery to children or teen audiences as research insights indicate that a more tailored approach is needed to influence behaviour change in these population groups)
FAQs with recommended responses - This resource provides suggested responses to frequently asked questions about vaping you may receive from the community or other workers.
Common Cause webinars - Webinars facilitated by Mark Chenery in 2022 providing guidance on crafting messages that engage people’s deeply held values to motivate concern and action around the issue of vaping.
Who are the target audiences?
This toolkit is intended for use by and for adults, parents and teachers.
It is NOT a student or young person resource toolkit. Please visit School resources if you are looking for specific tools and resources to help you reduce tobacco and vaping related harm in schools and among young people that you work with.

How do I access the toolkit?
The toolkit is only available by registering your interest via the form below:
Access to the toolkit will be shared with you within 1-3 business days via email after registering.
Please note the toolkit is not publicly available or promoted through social media. This is to avoid the guide falling into the hands of harmful industry groups. This is one of the reasons why you are asked to sign up to access it.
