Why you should talk to your pharmacist about quitting

Quit Victoria has trained hundreds of pharmacists statewide on how best to help you quit.

Have you thought about quitting smoking but don’t know where to start?

Quit Victoria understands that quitting can be challenging, but you’re not alone. That’s why we have trained hundreds of pharmacists statewide on how best to advise you.

Here is some guidance for any questions you may have.

Why should I contact my pharmacist?

  • Quit Victoria has trained hundreds of pharmacists with the most up-to-date advice on the best way to quit smoking.

  • Pharmacists can refer you to other experts, like our expert Quit counsellors at the Quitline, for a quitting plan and free expert coaching, or your GP.

  • They can advise you on the effects smoking has on some medications.

Do I need to book an appointment?

No, the great news is you can just pop in and have a chat.

Can they advise me on nicotine replacement products?

Yes, they can talk you through the options like patches, lozenges and gum, and show you how to use them.

Can I see my pharmacist more than once?

Yes, you can pop in whenever you like to help you stay on track.
