Using medications can increase your quitting success.
There are several stop smoking medications that can make quitting easier for you.
Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) can help you stop smoking and/or vaping. NRT reduces cravings and feelings of withdrawal by replacing some of the nicotine you would normally get from smoking and/or vaping.
Nicotine patches are used by sticking them to your skin. They are a slow acting NRT that can be used all day.
Using a fast acting NRT (gum or lozenges) with nicotine patches can increase your chances of quitting. Nicotine gum or nicotine lozenges are often used with nicotine patches to help you cope with cravings. They release nicotine that can be absorbed into your mouth.
Nicotine mouth spray, patches, gums and lozenges come in different strengths. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the right dose for you.
