It's been two years since Julie quit, and her resolve is stronger than ever.

Julie learnt to manage her cravings.
On the 18th August 2014 I finally had my first and last cigarette for the day and I haven't had one since, even though my partner still smokes.
I am so proud of myself. I have been wanting to give up for a number of years but never took that next step. I had all the nicotine patches, inhalator, tablets and chewies so I was ready. What really helped me was lollies - blackcurrant lifesavers were the best. Every time I felt like a smoke, particularly after eating, I would suck on a lolly and the feeling would pass.
Every time I thought of a cigarette I did something else, like if I was watching TV and the thought was there I would go and make a cup of tea. By the time it was ready the feeling has passed. I just had to do something different.
These tools helped me and I haven't had a cigarette since. I am so proud of me. Now my clothes smell nice. My car smells good, too. I can breathe better, that is the best thing of all.
