How your friends can help
Quitting with a buddy can be a great option.
Ways that friends can help you to quit
Smoking and vaping can be social activities. When you quit, this can change the way you interact with friends. But your friends can also help you to quit.
You will need to tell your friends that you’ve quit. If they smoke or vape, you can politely ask them not to offer any to you. Early after quitting, you may want to avoid some friends who smoke and/or vape.
Some friends are able to quit together. This can be a great way to do it.
It’s important to remember that everyone’s experience of quitting is different. Some people find quitting easier than others.
Quitline counsellors can chat with you about how you might deal with friends who smoke and/or vape. Counsellors can also help you make a plan that works for you or you can build your own with the My Quit Plan tool.
