Qualified Quitline counsellors can help you stop smoking and vaping.
Last updated April 2026
Victorians and South Australians may now be able to access free combination nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) such as nicotine patches and gum, lozenges or mouth spray, alongside tailored support throughout their quitting journey from trained counsellors at Quitline.
Combination nicotine replacement therapy - using the nicotine patch and a faster-acting type of NRT - gives people trying to quit a better chance of stopping smoking than using one type of NRT alone.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, a person must:
Live in Victorian or South Australia
Be trying or planning to quit
Be a new Quitline client willing to receive call-back counselling, or an existing Quitline client within two weeks of quitting.
Pregnant people are unable to participate in this program because nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) isn’t usually recommended as the first option for quitting during pregnancy. However, if you are pregnant, you can still access personalised counselling and support through Quitline on 13 7848. You can also speak with your doctor or pharmacist for additional support
What is included?
Victorian and South Australian residents who are eligible will receive:
A tailored quit plan
Behavioural support from trained Quitline counsellors, with ongoing call-back service throughout the person’s quit journey.
Combination nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) for free – nicotine patch plus nicotine lozenges, gum or mouth spray.
